It was while he was in a taxi with his bro Selim that day..a father..shocked to hear of his daughter's emergency operation.. praying hard for her........
*Ya Allah.. Please save my daughter. I will slaughter a sheep in place of her life*...
And so... this eid adha.. one sheep was for her...
As parents..we were not careful with the *aqiqah* of our children.. where it is in Malay.. *sunat muakkad*..where it is a advisable to slaughter a sheep (for girl) and 2 sheeps (for boy) particularly on the 7th day of the child as a form of protection for the child from the devil etc..etc... Of course.. in those days..we were not able to do so... and so last year.. we did the aqiqah for hatice and this year... one aqiqah for baddin and another one sheep for him next year....with hope that... Allah will protect them all from the stray path...
It is sort of a common thing as well for the husbands in the Zaim family to have one sheep cut for their wives for eid adha... and so..one for me...
And naturally..one for him...
I am Thankful to Allah for giving me a soulmate who is everything i have ever wished for...
Normally... a person can go and choose his own sheep to be slaughtered like what the Zaims do every year... normally... they get a few sheeps slaughtered at eid dawn... The rest of the Qurban..we normally give the money toorganizations to be distributed to the needy all over turkey as well as to other countries where famine spreads..
This eid Adha.....is a mixture of many things..of feelings and personal realizations......
It is before and during the celebration that i realise that... God! It is always great to have someone ..or should i say people who originated from the same homeland visiting us...
I was happy indeed to have the honor to be a host to this family...
who basically made eating a dangerous thing to do as you avoid urself from choking on ur food as u try to eat and not laugh at the same time!!
;Indeed...to have Arif...Kak Lil and their lovely kids around was a real pleasure indeed...If you need entertainment.. just call this family! they r sure to put a smile on your face!! What a nice family indeed....THANK YOU For coming to our humble home...May the friendship formed not be forgotten...:0)
Due to having to eat *Kavurma* (the eid adha traditional food cooked from meat etc)... cooked with meat bought from the shop... i think all of the Zaim family agree that *Kavurma* should be cooked with the fresh meat slaughtered from the animal that eid morning itself! The taste is simply like none other! İ suppose this is the *bereket* or the blessings of the whole thing... even the meat tastes good!
Kerim and Mıstık deboning the meat while Meşe.. Halil n i were cutting the meat for the kavurma..Hatice wanted to do too but we only let her cut a slice or two...
Hatice n her Meşe hala...
It is also a fun realisation that.. no matter how old u r.. be it 30 or 40...or 50? hehehe the pleasure of learning something new can be really exciting even for a proffessor!
And Yes.. we see an excited Selim helping out with the making of the Helva...we await u for meat cutting next eid adha!! Sorry Funda! Ur beloved may be late a bit for ur family eid breakfast! hehehe
It is also this Eid i see how a simple visit can mean a lot to a heart...
Just look at the old lady (Afa) chatting with Selim (my bro in law)...
She was the babysitter of all the Zaim siblings...Meşe..Selim...kerim... halim...halil...working for my beloved's grandma for years....And even until now... she n her daughter never fail to send us home made jams... home made tulum peyniri (chees made of goat).. and many more.. and at this age... to have a visit from those precious to her....was enough to put a smile on her face...
I think a visit to her place is also important for the younger generations as well...esp for my kids to see how people who r in need live (though u hve to bear in mind Afa is not poor.. she chooses to live like a oor person since she is very thrift)...small space... cold spaces (pls note we were wearing winter jackets in the house n were freezing still)... etc..etc..Yes... the terrible flu i was having intensified there n then... but it was a visit worth making...Afa was very happy indeed! a photo with a memory...
afa with the zaim kids and a niece i think..
The last bayram... the headstone was smashed into pieces due to strong wind... and to see it full standing this bayram....
Yup... two couples...
Mehmet and Saime...
Ülya and Sabahattin...
May u rest in peace.. Al fatihah...
This 2nd day of eid was baba's first year anniversary of his demise..
I have also realised that this cat...Pakize..is here to stay..i will never let her go ever anyway...ii love her too much just like hatice..baddin n my beloved...... and here she is...
her first Eid picture as part of the family with my angels.....
And most importantly....
The new motto...
*Aynı fikirdeyiz!!*
wink wink to the Zaim Family!
hahahahahahahahaha
Here are more pictures of the eid adha this year...The good quality pics r from Funda (thanks sis!) while the not so good ones r from my camera... my beloved camera needs to see a doc soon coz the flash is not working...:0(
